 TRAINING

Basic Obedience

The basic course is designed for the first introduction to obedience training on the adolescent or mature dog. This course teaches the dog five basic obedience commands of Sit, Down, Stay, Heel and Come. Behavior problems such as jumping up, house training, nipping and destructive chewing are covered. If your dog is nervous, timid, or anxious you will be taught how to deal with this behavior.

This course teaches the dog what the commands mean and what it should do when it hears them. You will learn to effectively communicate with your dog. This will lead to better under standing which creates a stronger bond with you and your dog. You will be taught a series of exercises to practice each week on a daily basis to reach your goals.

Course: 7 weeks

Intermediate Off-lead

Intermediate Off-lead training is for the dogs that have a clear understanding of the five commands of Sit, Down, Come, Stay and Heel. Training is done on lead where the dog is exposed to increased everyday distractions where he will be corrected and/or praised for its behavior. This training is done on lead with the focus on distractions in everyday word and teaching your dog the proper way to behave around them. Off leash work is introduced as well as distance control in this level of training.

Course: 7 weeks

Advanced Off-lead

This advanced level of obedience is for the dog owner who wishes to have the ultimate control of their dog off leash. All commands are used with hand signals and off leash control. All family members are encouraged to participate in the training. Handler and canine will master distractions and obstacles resulting in a confident man and canine partnership.

Course: 7 weeks

Search and Rescue Work

Tracking

For advanced dogs we offer searching and tracking through drive. This type of training will allow dog and handler to become proficient in all types of terrain and weather conditions making them a valuable asset to any Search and Rescue organization.

Here are a few examples of what search and rescue dog teams can find:

Children lost in the wilderness, parks or hidden shrubbery around houses.

Elderly people who have wandered away from homes and care facilities.

Hikers and hunters lost in the woods.

Evidence of crime and the bodies of deceased persons.

See us at www.geocities.com/findmesafe

On completion of this class the handler will be able to articulate his/her knowledge of scent theory, proper search procedures and perform an operational  scenario.
